She became a Mother

She flew in the big blue sky in search for twigs that would make her home one day
She thought of the little ones yet to be born, as she pecked at the straws from the hay
She flew past many trees that stood under the scorching sun, so grand, strong and tall
Finally picked the one that would protect her children if ever evil were to befall

As thunder struck and rain came lashing down, she moved on undaunted
She had a home to build, a dream to fulfill, that’s all, she had ever wanted
She derived her strength from thinking of her mother, so fearless so gallant
Who braved through the years and had the strength to face every challenge

She perched herself on the second highest branch and looked at the world so wide
Thought to herself, when her little ones would grow, how they would become her joy and pride
She closed her eyes to dream of her little home full of laughter and joy
She couldn’t thank God enough for her two little eggs in her nest and thought of a little girl and a boy

Time passed by and her two little eggs hatched, she opened her eyes as she heard the hungry cries
There came out two tiny heads with big brown eyes, clinging on to her for their dear life
As she cuddled them and fed them, she looked into their eyes with awe
If only she could stop time but she knew eventually they would grow and fly away, as was the nature’s law

SHE WAS NOW A MOTHER

She became the wind under their wings as they struggled to fly
She became their eyes as they tried to look up at the sky
She became their strength when they would lose hope
She became their hero to look up to, as they tried to cope

She was there every night and every day
Made them learn the tough world’s ways
She let them fall a few times and let them get up themselves, how it hurt her but she didn’t let herself sway
Because she knew she wouldn’t be there always when they grow up to fly away

She taught them to be brave, soulful and kind
To know between right and wrong, and have a strong mind
She had asked for a family different than others, special in so many ways
Stand out when they would fly into the wide horizon under the sun ablaze

She stood proud when they took their first flight
Waited for them to return every night
They loved her but couldn’t thank her enough
They knew for her to make them who they were her sacrifices had to be tough

She is now at peace, her dream all fulfilled, a constant smile on her face

Now when she goes she knows her little boy and girl will be her mark in this world………………she has left her trace

For my Nanimaa

She was tender hands that caressed you to sleep
She was a smile that spread across your face every time she would peek
She was stories that would make your eyes go wide open with wonder
She was fear when you would be naughty , just like the thunder

She was a kiss that would be on your forehead
She was a hand that didn’t strike but always blessed instead
She was soulful words that would enchant you
She was thoughts that would encourage you when you felt blue

She was a tender heart that held lots of love for everyone
She was memories of our childhood, our youth under the moon, stars and the sun
She was a rhythm that danced with joy
She was the sweet laughter of a joke that you could hear several time’s but still enjoy

She was my GrandMa , an epitome of love, beauty, strength, energy ,royalty and grace
She may have left us but we will always have her love, laughter and fond memories to embrace

Such is life I am told that people come and people go
But I want to hold on so tight , I have so much to share , so much to show

But I will be brave and be strong for all others
That’s what you taught us to be – be strong for  family ,  for your sisters and brothers

She watches over us now from up above the sky
Showering her blessings  always and asking us never to cry

Rest In peace my dearest sweetest Nani Maa
